Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has refuted claims suggesting that he allocated contracts to Musa Garba Kwankwaso, who is reportedly the brother of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the NNPP.

Musa Garba Kwankwaso, who has served as the defence minister, senator, and two-time governor of Kano State, played a significant role in Governor Yusuf’s election and is perceived to influence the governor’s decisions since taking office in 2023.

Bello Galadanchi, a Nigerian-US-born filmmaker and content creator, alleged that the state government instructed all 44 Local Government Councils to make ₦10 million payments each for the procurement of drugs from a company called Novomed, owned by Musa Garba Kwankwaso.

However, Governor Yusuf has denied these claims and has instructed the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission (PCACC) to investigate the purported contract allocations.

According to a statement released jointly by the Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, and the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf has directed the PCACC to conduct an immediate investigation into the allegations.

“The Governor has tasked the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to probe the claims and provide a report on the findings for further appropriate measures,” the statement read.

“Governor Yusuf has also urged the people of Kano State to remain patient while awaiting the results of the investigation,” the statement added.
