David Mark, the Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has sounded the alarm regarding potential threats to the party.
He claims that the present government may leverage the judiciary to undermine the party’s growing influence.
This warning was made in Abuja during a meeting with the ADC’s National Legal Support Group, headed by Abdullahi Abdurrahman.
Abdurrahman announced that over 310 legal professionals have stepped forward to represent the party in various ongoing and forthcoming legal matters throughout Nigeria.
He stated that the legal team is well-distributed across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), fully equipped to address any legal adversities faced by the ADC.
Included in the team are esteemed legal experts such as Peter Oyewole, the ADC’s Legal Adviser; former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN; and former Edo State Governor, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor.
“We are ready to confront any legal challenges that may arise against the ADC throughout the nation,” Abdurrahman affirmed.
He further noted that these lawyers are confident in the current leadership’s potential to overhaul the party and contribute positively to the nation’s growth.
He praised Senator Mark’s integrity, encouraging him to leverage his experience and leadership skills to elevate the ADC’s national presence.
Abdurrahman called on the party’s Legal Adviser to ensure the provision of essential documents and updates to facilitate effective operation of the legal team.
In response, Oyewole assured that all legal measures regarding the recent coalition that led to the formation of the new ADC were duly adhered to.
“There is no reason for concern,” he emphasized.
Nevertheless, Senator Mark voiced his worries about impending legal challenges.
“The ADC is the party to watch in 2027. The current regime might try to stall our progress through legal means,” he cautioned.
He urged the public to support the ADC as a credible and patriotic choice to guide the country forward.
Mark also praised the legal team for their commitment, urging them to stay vigilant and proactive as the party gears up for the upcoming general elections.
With its expanding grassroots support and robust legal framework, the ADC asserts its readiness to defend its ideals and participate actively in the 2027 electoral battle.
