Alhaji Isah Daya, the traditional leader of Kanya in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, was taken hostage by armed assailants.
The incident occurred during an attack on his village, leading to the abduction of the monarch along with eight other residents on the same day.
In the course of the attack, one individual lost their life and three others sustained injuries.
The police spokesperson, Nafui Abubakar, identified the deceased as Sherriff Alhaji Almu and confirmed the details of the incident.
A collaborative effort by law enforcement, spearheaded by the police, has been initiated to locate the kidnappers and ensure the rescue of those taken.
He mentioned that the Kebbi State Government is providing the necessary support and resources to combat banditry, especially in the regions impacted, particularly Kebbi South and Zuru Emirate.
This assault follows a recent event in which bandits killed the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area.
