Advice from Actress Toyin Tomato on Marriage
Renowned actress Toyin Adegbola, widely known as Toyin Tomato, has shared her thoughts aiming at married women regarding cheating in relationships. She encourages them to remain in their marriages, regardless of infidelity.
According to her advice, women should strive to resolve issues in their marriages instead of leaving when faced with betrayal. She also emphasized the importance of personal health by suggesting women take measures to protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections.
While speaking in Yoruba, she stated;
‘’I constantly advise women that even if your husband is extremely difficult, you should never consider leaving your home or asking him to leave. This situation may lead to regret during important family events when your children want both parents present.
In such times, he’ll insist on having his wife by his side, and you could find it hard to attract a single man afterward. If you think of leaving, remember that it might just be a cycle of seeking affection elsewhere.
She further suggested maintaining a presence at home while communicating openly with husbands. She recounted a friend’s practice where she would give her husband condoms whenever he returned to Nigeria, to which he jokingly responded, claiming he wouldn’t use them and wondered if this was a trap set by his wife. It shows the importance of being clever in handling such challenges.
Toyin noted that men should view their wives as irreplaceable partners, similarly to how women regard their husbands. She stressed that no matter how clever a man believes he is, he can be misled by women. It’s essential to recognize the dynamics between partners and their children.
