So, how much did Cruise earn for Top Gun: Maverick? Cruise was reportedly paid between $12 million and $14 million for his role in the film, according to Variety. Top Gun: Maverick, was originally set to be released in June 2020, but the film was delayed by six months because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Now, audiences can expect to see Cruise’s new movie in December 2020 if things go as expected, reports CNN.

The movie is based on the 1986 film Top Gun, in which Cruise plays US Naval pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. Cruise will reprise his role. In the original film he plays a fighter pilot trying to secure the top pilot spot and win the heart of his flight instructor, Charlotte Blackwood, played by actress Kelly McGillis.

The next two years will be quite busy for Cruise. In 2021, he’s slated to appear in Mission: Impossible 7 and Luna Park. The following year, Cruise is set to star in Mission: Impossible 8. The actor is also listed as a producer for these upcoming films.

This isn’t the first time Cruise produced a movie. He made his debut as a producer with his first Mission: Impossible film in 1996. Other production credits include Vanilla Sky (2001), The Last Samurai (2003), and Jack Reacher (2012).
