Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspect in Jigawa State
Police in Jigawa State have apprehended a well-known armed robbery suspect named Buhari Ya’u.
According to the Jigawa State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the arrest took place in Benue State on Monday, September 30, 2024. The operation was conducted by the State Intelligence Department (SID) from Dutse.
“Based on actionable intelligence, our operatives arrested the suspect who had been causing fear in Dutse and Ringim emirates. The operation occurred on September 10, 2024, at approximately 8:00 AM.”
“Buhari Ya’u, a male from the Dausayi Fulani Settlement Camp in Ringim LGA, was linked to a recent armed robbery incident that resulted in the death of Murtala Ja’afar, 40, on June 8, 2024, near Kwanar Shafar along the Ringim-Dutse road. A search of his home on June 12, 2024, led to the discovery of a gun.”
“During questioning at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse, Ya’u confessed to committing robberies alongside his four accomplices on roads like Jahun-Gujungu, Dindibis-Gamoji, and Shuwarin-Kiyawa.”
“He disclosed the name of Alhassan Idris (alias Alh Ja’o), a 40-year-old man from Jiyayye village in Ajingi LGA, Kano State, who sold him two guns for four hundred and fifty thousand Naira (#450,000.00).”
“The police have also arrested Alh Ja’o based on the information provided.”
The two suspects are currently in police custody and are contributing valuable information regarding their activities.
