The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has admitted to being behind the recent assault that resulted in the deaths of 87 individuals in Yobe State. The attack in Mafa town occurred on a Sunday at 4 pm, causing casualties and destroying properties.
Recovery efforts have revealed the remains of 37 victims so far, with plans for a mass burial at Babbangida General Hospital led by Yobe State Deputy Governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana and other government officials.
Reports indicate that at least 87 people lost their lives in the attack. ISWAP confirmed their involvement in a letter written in Arabic, claiming retribution against the village for collaborating with the military, resulting in casualties among their members.
The group cautioned the town’s residents against further provocation and harm, emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance towards those perceived as threats.
