Renowned Nigerian artist, Iyanya, has warned an X user against spreading unverified claims regarding an alleged interaction between his fellow musicians, Davido and Tekno.
The warning came after the user with the handle @obaoriade asserted that Davido had previously admitted that Tekno supported him during a difficult period in his career.
However, after Tekno, dealing with personal challenges including throat surgery, attempted to contribute to Davido’s upcoming album, he was reportedly overlooked.
“An artist revealed in a past interview that he hadn’t had a hit in a long time and Tekno helped him by providing a complete song he believed would be successful. After facing his own hardships, including surgery, Tekno reached out to this artist expressing his desire to feature on his new album. Unfortunately, he was ignored and didn’t even make it onto the project. It’s disappointing that good deeds seem to go unreciprocated in the Nigerian music scene. I hope Tekno recovers his voice soon.”
Iyanya quickly retorted, advising @obaoriade: “Avoid tweeting about things you aren’t aware of.”
