Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for the Labour Party, has refuted claims that he intends to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a brief statement issued on Thursday, Okonkwo dismissed the rumors surrounding his return to the APC, labeling them as false.
The actor-turned-politician emphasized that despite the circulating news on various online platforms, these claims hold no validity.
He commented: “I’ve seen the reports claiming that Kenneth Okonkwo has returned to APC. My response is simple: ‘fake news.’
Previously, on Tuesday, Okonkwo announced via his X account that he is resigning from the Labour Party, with the resignation taking effect on February 25, 2025, coinciding with the second anniversary of the 2023 presidential election.
He explained that his decision to leave was due to the Labour Party’s current structure, which he believes is not equipped to influence Nigeria’s political landscape.
Okonkwo pointed out the party’s failure to conduct ward-level congresses, elect local and state leaders, and hold a national convention.
He also criticized the LP’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, alleging that Abure prioritizes personal gain over the party’s welfare.
