The Labour Party (LP) has distanced itself from any coalition negotiations involving prominent opposition leaders such as Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Nasir El-Rufai, who are supposedly aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Darlington Nwokocha asserted that the LP is not informed of any such partnership.
Nwokocha reiterated that the Labour Party has its own organization and has not formally engaged in any coalition efforts aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Regarding Peter Obi, the LP’s candidate in the previous presidential election, Nwokocha clarified that although Obi is a respected member of the party, his personal endeavors do not reflect the official stance of the Labour Party regarding any alliances.
Nwokocha remarked: “Peter Obi acts as an individual. He has our respect due to his candidacy in 2023, similar to others.”
“We respect him. His engagements do not imply that he has joined the ADC or anything else. He’s a seasoned individual who should be free to interact; sharing ideas is encouraged.”
