LASEPA Closes Down Ariba Bistro Entertainment Hub Due to Noise Complaints

LASEPA’s actions aim to protect the public from noise pollution and promote health and safety in Lagos.

In response to ongoing noise complaints from local residents, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has closed Ariba Bistro Night Life Entertainment Series, situated within Martinos Hotel & Suites on Otunba Jobi Fele Way, Ikeja.

This action, executed on January 21, comes after continuous reports of loud noise levels that breach state environmental noise guidelines, despite previous warnings given to the venue’s management.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, stated the closure demonstrates the agency’s commitment to reducing noise pollution and safeguarding public well-being in Lagos.

He called for entertainment facilities to follow environmental regulations to prevent facing similar penalties.

“Noise pollution poses a significant threat to the environmental quality and public health. The Lagos State Government is firm about maintaining peace and promoting the welfare of its citizens,” Ajayi commented.

Additionally, he pointed out the adverse health effects of noise pollution, indicating it can lead to increased stress, hearing impairments, and sleep issues.

Ajayi cautioned other businesses, such as hotels, event spaces, and nightlife venues, to comply with Lagos State’s noise policies to avoid facing similar actions.

“This serves as a warning to those who overlook environmental regulations,”
he noted.
