Yahuza Abubakar, a 44-year-old man, was recently placed in custody at a correctional facility by a chief magistrate’s court on charges of defiling a 5-year-old girl in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) brought forth the defilement charges against Abubakar.
During the court proceedings, Marcus Audu, the NSCDC prosecutor, informed the court that Mary Abashe, the victim’s mother, lodged a complaint in Kafanchan on July 18.
According to reports, Audu stated that Abubakar forced his way into the residence of the complainant in the Ungwan Rimi area of Kaduna, took the young girl to the kitchen, and committed the crime.
He further mentioned that a neighbor caught Abubakar in the act, highlighting that the actions are against section 258 of the Kaduna penal code.
In the court session, Samson Kwasu, the presiding judge, refrained from allowing the accused to enter a plea due to a lack of jurisdiction.
Kwasu instructed the prosecutor to provide duplicate case files to the Kaduna state director of public prosecution (DPP) for legal counsel.
The judge scheduled the next hearing for August 6.
