Man Arrested for Suspected Defilement of Neighbour’s 13-Year-Old Daughter in Ogun State
A man named Hassan Wasiu, aged 55, has been taken into custody by the Ogun State Police Command on suspicion of sexually assaulting his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter. The alleged incident occurred on August 26, 2024, at his residence on Falowo Street in Makun, Sagamu.
Following a report by the survivor’s grandfather, Bimbo Ojo, to the Sagamu Police Division, the arrest was confirmed by Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state police command. It was discovered that the survivor was bleeding from her genitals after the assault.
The survivor disclosed during interrogation that she was coerced by the suspect to enter his room where the assault took place. Despite the suspect’s denial of any sexual contact with the survivor, he remains in custody as investigations continue.
Efforts to stop the bleeding were unsuccessful, prompting the survivor to be taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital for medical attention. The police team responded promptly upon receiving the report, apprehended the suspect, and are now further investigating the matter. The case is expected to be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department in due course.
