On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, a 28-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 25-year-old estranged lover more than 16 times in full public view outside her office in east Bengaluru, India. The victim has been identified as Leela Pavithra Nalamati from Kakinada, AP, who was an employee of Omega Healthcare Management Services Private Limited in Murugeshpalya. The accused, Dinakar Banala, from Srikakulam, Andhra, is also a healthcare worker at a company in Domlur. Jeevan Bhima Nagar police rushed to the scene and arrested Dinakar.
CP (east) Bheemashankar S Guled reported that the murder occurred around 7.30pm. According to the preliminary investigation, Dinakar and Leela had been in love for five years and had planned to get married. However, Leela’s family refused to consent to the marriage due to the groom belonging to a different caste. Leela then informed Dinakar of her family’s decision, which enraged him and led him to stab her multiple times. Dinakar had waited outside of Leela’s office and once she stepped out, they had an argument before he took out a knife and stabbed her in full public view.
