A surprising event took place at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday, when a man named Adamu Muhammed Tenimu reportedly fainted after receiving the news that his wife had welcomed triplets.
This incident transpired soon after the delivery.
Witnesses noted that the man became overwhelmed with emotion and collapsed when he learned that his wife had given birth to three daughters.
Hospital staff and onlookers swiftly came to his assistance and managed to revive him.
It was reported that both the new mother and her three daughters were in stable health.
After he regained consciousness, Muhammed, who is currently looking for work, shared feelings of joy mixed with anxiety, expressing concerns about the financial obligations presented by the arrival of the triplets.
“I am grateful to God for this miracle, but I feel bewildered and sad. I had no idea we were having triplets. At this moment, we don’t even have enough money to cover the hospital expenses, let alone provide for three newborns,” he stated, tears streaming down his face.
He mentioned that the family had only been able to prepare for one baby as regular scans during the pregnancy were not feasible due to financial issues.
“This incredible blessing brings a significant load. I can’t even afford diapers or baby food. I’m lost on where to find help,” he lamented.
Those who witnessed the event conveyed to our correspondent that while the delivery had gone well, the family urgently required medical supplies, nutritional support, and financial assistance for the care of the infants.
“The babies are doing well, but this family is in dire need of aid. We are appealing to the government, NGOs, faith-based organizations, and kind-hearted individuals to help them,” a relative stated.
Friends and community members of the family have started a campaign urging citizens to contribute in any way possible.
“We sincerely request intervention from the Kogi State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development,” they urged.
“The father is a responsible, diligent man, and this situation warrants attention,” commented Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a coworker.
There have been calls for charitable foundations and individuals to provide baby necessities, food, and financial aid for hospital bills.
“The joy of welcoming new life shouldn’t be overshadowed by survival fears. We must come together as a community to support this family,” added Sikiru Olamide.
The triplets, weighing 1.8kg, 2.0kg, and 2.3kg respectively, are currently being monitored in the hospital’s neonatal unit and are responding positively.
