In the course of the events, law enforcement confronted the individual on the building’s third level where they were met with resistance, resulting in an officer sustaining an injury to the hand.

An individual from Nigeria, aged 36, known as Onyebuchi, has been apprehended on allegations of assaulting a security guard and law enforcement officers with a machete in Cambodia.

The incident occurred on June 30, 2024, in Prey Ta Nou Village, Chak Angre Leu Commune, Mean Chey District, Phnom Penh.

As detailed in reports from Cambodian media on July 3, the accused reportedly tried to enter a building brandishing a machete.

Upon being obstructed by the security guard, Onyebuchi injured him and then absconded into the premises.

Law enforcement was summoned and on arrival pursued the individual to the third floor of the building where a confrontation ensued, resulting in one officer sustaining a hand injury.

The wounded officer underwent a procedure requiring 20 stitches to address the wound.

Onyebuchi was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody for interrogation.

The occurrence is presently under investigative procedures.
