Marvel’s ‘A-Force’: This Will Reportedly Be The Villain In the All-Female Avengers

Marvel made a point to bring its best female superheroes together in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame in what many considered was a preview to an A-Force project. The future film is expected to bring together our favorite heroes to form an all-female Avengers squad. Marvel has not confirmed the A-Force project, but inside sources say that they already have a good idea who the villain might be.

Who will be the ‘A-Force’ villain?

It will likely be a long time before Marvel says anything about an A-Force movie, but inside sources claim that the studio has made a few developments behind the scenes.

According to We Got This Covered, the film will feature an entity named Singularity that will call upon the female superheroes to save the Earth from a villain named Antimatter.

It is important to note that a script has not been written for the project and that we are still in the very early stages of development — so a lot of things can change.

It will also be years before we get an A-Force movie as Marvel already has everything lined out for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But if the rumors are true, then we might catch a glimpse of Antimatter and Singularity in Captain Marvel 2.

These characters will form A-Force

While Marvel has been very quiet about the A-Force film, we have a good idea about which superheroes will be featured in the movie. In fact, Endgame offered a good preview during the final fight scene against Thanos (Josh Brolin).

The scene featured the likes of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Wasp, (Evangeline Lilly), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Rescue (Gwyneth Paltrow), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Gamora (Zoe Saldana).

With A-Force likely scheduled for Phase 5 of the MCU, there is a strong chance some new faces will be added to the mix. Some potential characters include Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk, both of whom are expected to be introduced on Disney Plus.

That said, Marvel is launching a number of different franchises in the coming years, so that list could grow even larger by then.

Who are Singularity and Antimatter?

Singularity and Antimatter were part of recent runs in the A-Force comics, lasting through 2015 and 2016. For fans who do not know, these characters are cosmic beings who are pretty much polar opposites

Singularity is a female entity that is good-natured and merciful, while Antimatter is a male being who tends to be much more villainous.

Although neither character has been introduced to the MCU, they would be perfect additions for the A-Force. Not only does it makes sense to team up the heroines with a female powerhouse like Singularity, but it also opens the door for Marvel to release another space-bound franchise.

Unfortunately, Marvel has not said anything about bringing these characters into the fold, so you never know which direction the studio will ultimately take.

‘Endgame’ almost changed the A-Force scene

While we wait to hear more, there was a time when the A-Force scene in Endgame was going to look very different.

When developing the script for the film, Endgame writers wanted to have Captain Marvel get struck down and knocked unconscious by Thanos’ spaceship. The other female superheroes would have then rallied to her defense until she woke up.

At that point, Captain Marvel would have blasted through Thanos’ army and destroyed his ship just like what happened in the final cut.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo decided to go a different direction because the scene did not fit in with the overall flow of the battle. So they switched things up and made things a lot simpler for the A-Force.

Although it was great to see the A-Force in action, fans have criticized the scene for being nothing more than a gimmick. After all, Captain Marvel does not appear as though she needs any help in the film and was more than capable on her own.
