The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has designed the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) to provide immediate access to election outcomes directly from polling locations.
This platform is intended to promote transparency in elections and mitigate the risks of vote manipulation.
IReV enables voters, observers, and other stakeholders to track current elections and access results as they are submitted. It displays images of election results from each polling station, detailing the votes received by each candidate as well as the overall vote shares.
Here’s a straightforward guide to check INEC results on the IReV portal:
1. **Go to the INEC Result Portal**: Navigate to the official INEC results page at http://inecelectionresults.ng.
2. **Log In or Register**: If you have previously used the portal, enter your login credentials. New users should click on “Create New Account” and follow the steps to register.
3. **Provide Required Information**: Fill in the details necessary for the account registration process.
4. **Activate Your Account**: You will receive a six-letter activation code via email. Enter this code in the designated area on the portal and click “Activate” to finalize your account registration.
5. **Go to the Result Console**: After logging in, you will land on the Result Console. This section contains tabs for different types of elections, such as:
- Presidential Election
- Governorship Election
- Senatorial Election
- House of Representatives Election
- State House of Assembly Election
- Chairmanship Election
- Councillor Election
6. **Choose Your Election**: Select the specific election you are interested in, then indicate the state, Local Government Area (LGA), ward, and polling unit. Results will be represented as images of the ECr8 Form, showing the vote counts documented by election officials.
7. **Access Historical Results**: The platform also permits users to view results from prior elections, including those from Ekiti, Osun, and the FCT Area Council.
