Message from the Presidency to Organized Labor and Nigerians

Presidency Sends Message To Organised Labour Nigerians (via Primetweets)

The Presidency is urging Nigerians to remain patient and not pressure President Bola Tinubu regarding the new minimum wage. They assure that Tinubu will submit the proposed bill to the National Assembly when it is prepared.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, questions the urgency for the bill’s transmission. This statement follows Organized Labor’s request for consultation before sending the bill to the National Assembly.

Onanuga emphasizes the need for patience, as the bill’s submission timeline remains uncertain, despite President Tinubu mentioning a consensus on the new wage during his Democracy Day address.

Last week, Onanuga reiterated that the workers’ demand for a ₦250,000 wage is unsustainable, cautioning against draining all government resources to fulfill such a request.
