Protesters Cause Havoc in Kano
The Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, expressed dismay over the recent events during the nationwide protests in Kano.
The protests, known as #EndBadGovernance, commenced on August 1st and are scheduled to run until August 10th, 2024.
During the ongoing protest, a group of demonstrators vandalized and looted a building in Kano state, causing disruption and damage.
Responding to the incident, Minister Bosun Tijani took to his official platform to address the situation on Thursday, highlighting the setback this would bring to the government’s initiatives aimed at promoting youth employment through technology.
He expressed his disappointment, stating, ”It is disheartening to learn that our Digital Innovation Park in Kano State, set to be launched next week to support our technical talent accelerator (3MTT), has been destroyed and plundered by protesters.
”Alongside #3MTT, this facility was intended to host our buildathon holiday maker program for secondary school students starting next week. This incident poses a setback to our mission of enhancing our tech workforce and creating job opportunities for youths. It represents a significant loss of resources.”
