The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has disclosed the identities of inmates who fled from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State.

In April 2024, more than 180 inmates escaped when the perimeter fence was breached by heavy rainfall. While some have been apprehended, many are still on the run.

In a bid to capture the fugitives, the NCoS, through its spokesperson, Abubakar Umar, revealed the names and images of the escapees.

According to Umar, the NCoS stated, “It is necessary to publicize the details of certain escapees from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Suleja, FCT Command, following the unfortunate collapse of the facility’s perimeter wall during heavy rainfall on April 24, 2024.”

He added, “Efforts are underway to re-apprehend and return them to custody. Their information has been disseminated to other security agencies and the public for assistance in their recapture to ensure public safety and national security.”

The NCoS emphasized enhanced security measures in correctional facilities across the country to prevent security breaches and assured that comprehensive strategies are in place to recapture all escapees.

The public has been urged to alert the authorities upon spotting any of the escapees in the interests of public safety.
