The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has officially set the minimum wage for state employees at 75,000 naira.

 

This decision was announced on Wednesday.

 

Murtala Usman, the chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress in Kebbi, confirmed this development during a conversation with reporters.

 

“The Governor has demonstrated his support for the workforce in our state. We initially suggested three different wage levels.”

“We suggested 72,000, 73,000, and finally 75,000 naira, and he chose to go with the highest amount, indicating his commitment to the workers.”

“Moreover, he announced that payments will commence this October, with salaries expected to be disbursed to workers within the next 72 hours,” he further remarked.

 

In a related note, the labour union leaders in Sokoto have urged the state government to take swift action regarding the newly established minimum wage.
