Two Suspected Gunrunners Arrested in Plateau State
Soldiers from Operation Safe Haven have captured two individuals trying to purchase an AK-47 rifle for ₦1.45 million.
The suspects were taken into custody during a secret operation on Friday in Bokkos Town, Plateau State.
The incident occurred at a concealed location in the White House Hotel, where the individuals were engaged in discussions for the illegal purchase.
Zagazola Makama, a source involved in counter-insurgency efforts in the Lake Chad area, confirmed the arrests on his social media account on the same day.
The arrested individuals are identified as Kenneth Mayas, aged 31, and Bulus Yilfo, aged 60. Both are from the Forop District in the Barkin Ladi area of Plateau State.
During the operation, authorities seized the ₦1.45 million cash from the suspects, indicating their involvement in a broader criminal network.
According to Makama, the suspects along with the found money are currently under investigation, and actions are being taken to locate other members of their criminal group.
