Nigerian Man Admits Guilt in Cyberstalking and Extortion Case Linked to U.S. Man’s Death

Charges Filed Against Nigerian National for Cyber Crimes

Imoleayo Samuel Aina, a 27-year-old man from Nigeria, has admitted guilt in front of Judge Joel H. Slomsky in the U.S. District Court. His charges include cyberstalking, threatening to harm someone’s reputation across state lines, extortion, a conspiracy related to money laundering, and multiple counts of wire fraud. These offenses are linked to the sexual extortion and tragic death of Jack Sullivan, a 20-year-old man who took his own life in Eastern Pennsylvania.

This announcement came from U.S. Attorney David Metcalf in a statement released on May 6, 2025.

Aina and his accomplice Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun, 25, were apprehended in Nigeria and brought to the U.S. by the FBI on July 31, 2024, after an arrest warrant was issued. They, along with another Nigerian suspect, Afeez Olatunji Adewale, 25, were formally charged in August 2024.

Aina is set for sentencing on August 11, facing a maximum potential punishment of life imprisonment.

Abiodun previously pleaded guilty in December to charges of conspiracy related to money laundering and wire fraud. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 10, with a possible maximum sentence of 100 years.

Adewale, who also faces similar charges, remains in Nigeria while awaiting extradition to the U.S.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Abington Township Police Department, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Brown.

Assistance in extraditing Aina and Abiodun came from various U.S. and Nigerian authorities, including the Justice Department and Nigerian security bodies. Their cooperation was crucial in the operation.

The Impact of Extortion on Jack Sullivan

Jack Sullivan, a 2021 graduate from Abington Senior High School and a student at Kutztown University, received a flirtatious message on Instagram from someone identifying as Alice Dave in January 2023. Their communication escalated, with the sharing of intimate pictures via Snapchat.

However, the tone quickly shifted. The sender threatened to expose Sullivan’s photos unless he sent money, stating he would face severe consequences if he blocked her: “All you have to do is cooperate with me and I will not expose you…”

Sullivan ended up paying approximately $2,800, but the threats continued, and Alice refused to delete the images.

Tragically, within 24 hours of the initial message, Sullivan ended his life on the train tracks at the Jenkintown SEPTA station, where he was struck by a train.

Initially ruled a suicide, the Montgomery County coroner later classified his death as homicide following further investigation.

In light of these events, Sullivan’s parents filed a civil suit in December 2023 against the social media platforms behind Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, claiming that they failed to take action against harmful accounts.
