Professor John Ebeh Kidnapped in Kogi State
In a disturbing incident, Prof John Ebeh from the Philosophy Department at Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba, Kogi State, was abducted by presumed criminals. This event took place in Agbeji, a locality within the Dekina Local Government Area.
An observer named Akpai provided an account of the event, saying, “The assailants moved quickly and with precision. Initially, we thought a vehicle following closely behind him was a friend. However, gunfire erupted around his home.”
Reports suggest that the professor was approached by the masked attackers as he was nearing his residence on Thursday evening, according to Daily Trust.
“He was almost at his gate after returning from town when the incident occurred. Suddenly, another car sped in and blocked his path. Several masked individuals emerged from the vehicle and forcefully took him away,” stated a relative.
The relative further mentioned that the kidnappers contacted the family the following night, demanding a ransom of N10 million.
While the university has not yet commented on the situation, colleagues expressed their shock at the news, with one stating, “I recently visited his family to offer my condolences.”
As per SaharaReporters, attempts to reach the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Aya, for a statement were unsuccessful, as calls were not returned at the time of this report.
