No Tolerance for Another #EndSARS in Lagos

Lagos Wont Allow Another EndSARS (via Primetweets)

Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has issued a stern warning that the state will not permit a repeat of the events that occurred during the #EndSARS protest in 2020.

In a recent address to the residents of the state on Wednesday, July 31, in anticipation of the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 to highlight hunger and hardship, the governor emphasized the need for peaceful and constructive protests over violent means.

Recalling the extensive destruction and losses suffered during the previous protests, including the damage to valuable properties such as the Lagos High Court, numerous police stations, local government offices, fire stations, and other key facilities, Gov Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of avoiding a similar situation.

He highlighted the economic and social setbacks caused by the destruction of infrastructure, commercial premises, and public transportation vehicles, such as brand-new BRT buses.

Despite acknowledging the challenges faced by Nigeria, the governor assured the public that efforts are being made by the Tinubu-led administration to address these issues and ease the burdens faced by Nigerians.

Questioning the effectiveness of protests in achieving lasting progress and addressing core issues like food prices and economic growth, Gov Sanwo-Olu cautioned against actions that could potentially undermine the incremental progress made so far.
