Protest Erupts in Osogbo Following Alleged Shooting Incident
Members of the Osun State Transport Management System (OSTMS) gathered in Osogbo to protest the reported shooting of their Chairman, Wakeel Nurudeen Alowonle.
This incident allegedly occurred on Monday night, involving officers from the Osun Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad.
The police had previously detained Alowonle on the same night for reportedly carrying a police firearm and ammunition.
On Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment expressed serious concern over claims that Alowonle was shot at close range while in police custody due to a domestic dispute.
The protest has led to the blockage of the expressway at Aregbe Park, causing significant traffic disruptions.
As of now, the police have not issued an official statement regarding the situation.
