PDP Can Triumph Alone, We Won’t Abandon Our Identity

PDP Can Win Without Coalition We Cant Drop The Name (via Primetweets)

Abba Moro, the leader of the Senate Minority, has dismissed the idea that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) needs to form alliances or merge with other opposition groups to stay relevant in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Moro asserted that the PDP continues to be a formidable political entity across Nigeria, despite a significant number of departures from the party.

In an interview with Africa Independent Television (AIT), he addressed the ongoing discussions about potential partnerships before the elections, particularly in response to remarks from several PDP governors who have opted out of coalition negotiations.

Moro emphasized, “I’ve stated previously, PDP is a substantial brand. Wherever you go in Nigeria today, you will encounter PDP supporters.”

“The PDP is capable of competing effectively in the next election without forming any coalition or merger.

“While a coalition is acceptable, a merger that entails abandoning the PDP name is perilous. The PDP brand holds substantial value and is recognized nationwide. It has the potential to win elections on its own merits. Preserving the name is essential,” he concluded.
