PDP Generates ₦11.5 Billion Through Nomination Fees, Dues, and Levies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully raised N11.5 billion through the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms, as well as fees from candidates and officeholders during February and March 2023.

Of this amount, N7.9 billion was earmarked to assist with state congresses, the national convention, and several campaign initiatives for the 2023 elections.

An audited financial report submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as required by the Electoral Act, outlines the specifics of this revenue.

As reported by Vanguard, a significant portion of this income came from forms sold for various political positions, including Presidential, Senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly.

In terms of expenditures, the party allocated N3.1 billion for state congresses and the national convention, while N1.7 billion went to states and candidates participating in the elections.

Other costs included N72.07 million for allowances for party agents, N233.4 million for training and workshops, and N166.5 million for staff-related expenses. Campaign logistics, including transportation, incurred N27.7 million.

Further details indicate that travel, including aircraft charter costs, amounted to N693 million, and mobilization efforts for voters received N370 million.

The financial overview was prepared by Ismaila Yunusa Alkali, the PDP’s Director of Finance, and was endorsed by the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, detailing the party’s financial activities during the specified period.
