Habibu Umar
The Bauchi State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to suspend Habibu Umar, the representative for Kirfi local government in the state Assembly, due to his connections with Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister.
An insider shared with Punch that the suspension stems from allegations of Umar aligning with Wike.
However, in a letter sent to Abubakar Sulaiman, the speaker of the state Assembly, it was stated that the reasons for Umar’s suspension were related to insubordination.
This letter, signed by the party’s state chairman, Sama’ila Burga, revealed that Umar was deemed guilty following an investigation by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
Effective November 25, 2024, Umar is barred from engaging in any party-related activities until further notice.
The letter explained, “On November 5, 2024, Habibu Umar received a query from the party concerning insubordination, violating specific sections of the Party Constitution 2017 (as amended).
“This allegation was confirmed by a report from his Beni Ward, signed by the entire Executive Committee.
“Following this, a Disciplinary Committee was established on November 11, 2024, in accordance with Party Constitution Chapter 10, Section (59) (1) 2017 (as amended).
“After thoroughly investigating the matter, the committee found the member guilty of the allegations and thus recommended his indefinite suspension in line with Section 59 (4) and (5) of the party’s constitution.”
