The Anambra State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential contender in the 2023 elections, to reconsider his return to the PDP.
It’s important to note that Obi switched allegiance to the LP after concluding that his presidential aspirations could not be fulfilled within the PDP.
The appeal arose from a significant gathering of the State Executive Committee (SEC) to assess the party’s current situation and define its future path in Awka on Thursday.
In a statement endorsed by the party’s State Chairman, Chidi Chidebe, it was noted that forming alliances with politically diverse groups could hinder achieving desired outcomes.
“The committee warmly invites all discontented and former PDP members in Anambra, particularly our esteemed ex-governor Mr. Peter Obi, to rejoin and reunite with the newfound and reorganized PDP.
“We look forward to welcoming all our former members back to join us in our shared mission for a better Nigeria,” he expressed.
Chidebe encouraged voters in Anambra to support Mr. Jude Ezenwafor and his running mate, Mr. Francis Okeke, in the upcoming elections, while calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee a fair, clear, and unbiased electoral process.
In addition, he announced the unanimous selection of Chief Clems Ezike to occupy the empty seat of National Ex-Officio representing Anambra and urged the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee, led by Chief Ali Odefa, to acknowledge and forward this decision to the national office.
