Police Use Force on Protesters and Journalists at MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja

A group of protesters, mainly young people, converged outside the MKO Abiola Stadium for the third day of a 10-day demonstration against poor governance in Nigeria.

 

During an event known as the end hunger protest, on Saturday, August 3, law enforcement officers from the Nigerian Police Force fired shots at protesters and journalists at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

According to Daily Post, the demonstrators, mostly youths, had assembled outside the stadium for the third day of their demonstration against poor governance in Nigeria.

Armed officers arrived at the location around 11:45 am and instructed the crowd to disperse.

When the protesters and journalists did not comply with the order to leave, the police resorted to using force by firing shots at them.
