POLL: Who Should Direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?

Yesterday brought the sudden news that director Scott Derrickson and Marvel Studios were parting ways on the upcoming sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While it is sad that Derrickson will not be returning, Marvel must now find a new filmmaker to mingle with the Master of the Mystic Arts. Not only that, but one who can jump into the project immediately for a May start to shooting. ComingSoon.net wants to hear from readers as to Who Should Direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Make your voice heard in the poll below!

It should be noted that while coming up with this list we very purposely excluded filmmakers we knew to be busy with other projects (James Gunn, Taika Waititi, Ava DuVernay, etc). We also excluded a lot of typical fan choices that, while admittedly excellent filmmakers, would probably not be willing to step in last minute for a Marvel sequel. Hence, no Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Christopher Nolan, Guillermo del Toro, Michael Bay, Zack Snyder, Brad Bird, etc. We focused our list mainly on directors from the horror field, rising indie stars, reliable TV shooters and helmers who have worked with star Benedict Cumberbatch before.

This won’t disrupt plans for the film’s production. In the Multiverse of Madness will start shooting in May, and Marvel Studios is already looking for a new director. Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Dr. Stephen Strange. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams and Benedict Wong will presumably return. However, the only other role confirmed for the film is Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff. Last summer, Marvel revealed that the Disney+ series WandaVision will lead directly into the film. Additionally, the Loki series will also feature a tie-in with Multiverse of Madness.

Up and coming screenwriter Jade Halley Bartlett is currently penning the script for the sequel.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters on May 7, 2021.
