Quentin Tarantino is one of the most prominent filmmakers and screenwriters alive. He made his breakthrough back in 1994 with the critically acclaimed neo-noir film Pulp Fiction. Since then, he’s been one of very few filmmakers who’s able to satisfy both audiences and critics.
Tarantino is one of the few filmmakers whose personal life makes headlines. He recently had a child with his wife, Daniella Pick. Here’s Tarantino’s previous statements about fatherhood and all the details about his new baby.
Why Quentin Tarantino didn’t want to be a dad
Tarantino had previously dismissed the idea of having children. People reports he discussed the subject in a 2015 interview. He recalled being very interested in the prospect of fatherhood back in 2002, around the time he was making the first Kill Bill film. He said seeing people around him have kids made him vicariously experience the joys of fatherhood.
During this period, he was very interested in having a child, especially because people around him were saying he’d make a great dad. However, he said this period of “baby fever” ended. He explained he would still be open to having a child in the future. “It doesn’t mean that I don’t want to have kids, but right now, perfectly thinking, I want to do [get to the point where I have directed ten films] — without distractions.”
According to IndieWire, Tarantino considers the Kill Bill duology to be a single film. Going by his standards, this means Tarantino has directed nine films so far. Although he previously said he’d like to complete his tenth film before becoming a father, he seems to have abandoned that idea.
What we know about his newborn
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino and his wife, Israeli singer Daniella Pick, announced the birth of their first child through a representative. Their representatives stated the child is a baby boy who was born on February 22, 2020. Tarantinos are reportedly delighted to welcome a child into their lives.
The boy was born at Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv, one of the major cities in Israel. The child’s name has not yet been revealed to the public. For the child of one of the most famous filmmakers alive, this baby boy has quite a lot of privacy! Tarantino fans can only speculate as to why the the couple is reluctant to let everyone know the name of their son. MSN says the Tarantinos were asked to comment on this news but have not responded to the request.
Great artists often work their personal lives into their art. Tarantino is not known for creating autobiographical films, but there’s always a chance his fatherhood will affect his writing. It would be fascinating to see Tarantino work themes of parenthood into his upcoming movies.
