Renowned media figure and influencer, Scott Iguma, has received bail.
The bail was granted on Monday by the Lagos State High Court.
This decision followed his imprisonment three days prior.
Scott had accused the real estate company, PWAN, of fraud during an outburst last week Monday.
In his presentation of over 130 complaints from affected individuals to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Scott claimed that PWAN sold receipts rather than actual land.
On Thursday, he was detained on charges of defamation, initiated by PWAN’s founder, Augustine Onwumere.
Consequently, the court ordered his imprisonment on Friday morning.
This incident led to a wave of reactions on social media, with many of his peers and friends, including Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and musician Kokopee, criticizing the Nigerian Police and PWAN.
In a video posted on his account, musician Kokopee announced Scott’s bail approval.
He stated, “Following the hearing, the judge has granted bail to Scott Iguma. His legal team is diligently ensuring that all conditions are fulfilled. It’s important for Nigerians to understand that we cannot remain silent in the face of oppression. Injustice to one is injustice to all.”
“PWAN, take note: if you claim innocence, provide evidence.”
