The Senate, led by Senator Buhari Abdulfatai (APC-Oyo North), highlighted the urgent need to address the state’s road problems, marking a significant concern for public safety and travel.
Abdulfatai emphasized how critical this road is for connecting the northern and southern regions and pointed out that its poor condition has severely disrupted travel, often leaving many passengers stranded.
Noting the distress caused by the road, he mentioned that it has been in terrible shape for over a decade, despite previous repair efforts by the Federal Government. Senate President Godswill Akpabio has instructed the Committee on Works to provide an update to the Senate within three weeks regarding the situation.
Abdulfatai remarked that the ongoing state of disrepair has not only led to common accidents but also created daily traffic jams caused by large vehicles.
