Senator Shehu Buba Umar from Bauchi South expressed surprise upon being informed that the Bauchi Emirate Council removed his traditional title of ‘Mujaddadin Bauchi’. He felt he was not given a fair chance to present his side of the story but accepted the decision gracefully.
The Bauchi Emirate Council took action after the Senator criticized Governor Bala Mohammed for allegedly mishandling government-provided relief materials and selling them instead of distributing them to the public.
Responding to the withdrawal of his chieftaincy title, Senator Buba defended his actions, stating that his comments were a defense of President Bola Tinubu and not an attack on Governor Mohammed.
In a letter to the Emir of Bauchi, Senator Buba highlighted that his remarks were a response to what he perceived as disparaging comments by Governor Mohammed towards President Tinubu, emphasizing that his intention was to shield the President from unwarranted criticism.
The Senator urged the Bauchi Emirate Council to refrain from being entangled in political conflicts and focus on the well-being of the people, expressing hope for a future leader in Bauchi who would address the challenges faced by the citizens.
