Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate, has expressed his determination to address corruption and injustice in Nigeria without fear.
He emphasized his resilience, stating that no one has the power to silence him or make him vanish. This statement follows a recent court ruling that requires him to hand over his international passport as part of his bail conditions in a cybercrime allegation initiated by the Nigeria Police, where he was accused of labeling the Inspector-General, Kayode Egbetokun, an “illegal IGP.” Sowore remains committed to advocating for the well-being of Nigerians.
Critiquing Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai, two influential members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sowore described them as opportunistic activists who only emerge for their political agendas.
He mentioned that while his bail conditions are complex and currently being evaluated by his legal team, his voice will not be stifled. Sowore remarked:
“The judge granted bail following yesterday’s hearing, and while the conditions are intricate, I trust my lawyers with the details. I want to reassure Nigerians of our unwavering commitment to freeing this nation from the grip of incompetent leaders and prioritizing the people’s welfare.
“Our activism is not motivated by the upcoming elections; we are authentic advocates, unlike the recent arrivals like El-Rufai and Amaechi. Our alertness to injustice is driven by our convictions, not political timetables. Although the police may have an interest in my passport, I assert that while they can take my passport away, they cannot strip me of my rights. I refuse to be silenced or disappear; that is simply not an option,” he conveyed through his X platform account.
