Sony Shifts Spider-Man 3 To Fall 2021

The novel coronavirus pandemic has already forced Marvel Studios to push back several of its upcoming releases. However, the third MCU Spider-Man movie was still slated for July 15, 2021 as recently as this week. But now, Sony is pushing Spider-Man 3 back four months. The film’s new release date is November 5, 2021.

Earlier this week, Sony moved Venom: Let There Be Carnage from October 2020 to June 25, 2021. That was the date formerly held by The Batman, and it would have also in close proximity to the follow up to Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Under the terms of last fall’s deal between Disney and Sony, this will be the last MCU Spider-Man movie featuring Tom Holland’s webslinger. But that deal could potentially be renewed again. Sony has also hinted that Holland’s Spider-Man may crossover with Venom and/or Morbius.

Holland and Zendaya will both return for the next Spider-Man. Presumably Jacob Batalon and Marisa Tomei will also be back. Jon Watts will direct the sequel, with Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal attached as executive producers.

What do you think about the Spider-Man 3 delay? And which villain do you want to see in the sequel? Let us know in the comment section below!
