Controversy Surrounds Naja’atu Muhammad and Nuhu Ribadu
Naja’atu Muhammad, a prominent Nigerian politician and activist, has firmly stood by her accusations against National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
As the founder of the Northern Star Youth Initiative, Muhammad has refused to withdraw her statements or apologize for them.
In a recent social media video, she reiterated her claims that Ribadu had previously labeled President Bola Tinubu, Secretary to the Government George Akume, and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as corrupt during his leadership at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This situation escalated when Ribadu’s legal representative, Ahmed Raji, formally requested that Muhammad retract her statements and issue a public apology. However, Muhammad has stood her ground, emphasizing that she will not be silenced by intimidation.
She accused Ribadu of double standards, highlighting that he now serves in a government led by the same officials he once accused of corruption.
Supporting her claims, former Federal Capital Territory Minister Nasir El-Rufai revealed that he was present during a Federal Executive Council meeting in 2016 when Ribadu made similar allegations against the current president and others.
El-Rufai’s endorsement of Muhammad’s position has intensified scrutiny of Ribadu’s past remarks and his current role within the Tinubu administration.
In a bold statement, Muhammad challenged Ribadu to pursue legal action if he felt defamed.
She stated, “There is no retreat, no surrender, and no apology to Nuhu Ribadu.
“I’m addressing the recent threats and intimidation from Ribadu’s legal team.
“My assertion regarding Ribadu’s past statements about Tinubu being ‘a corrupt government official who will not escape justice’ stands firm.
“While Ribadu may have chosen to forget or retract his earlier claims, I maintain that an apology is unwarranted. Apologize to whom exactly?
“My statements are based on publicly known facts. I will not compromise my integrity to appease Ribadu and his attack dogs.”
