The Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed that Michael Lenin, a key figure in the #EndBadGovernance protest, has not been apprehended and is not in their custody.
This confirmation was made public through a brief statement posted on the DSS’s official platform.
Initial reports had suggested that DSS personnel arrested Michael Lenin, one of the leaders behind the ongoing #EndBadGovernance demonstrations in Abuja, specifically in the Apo area.
Allegedly, Lenin was taken into custody at his residence in the early hours of Monday by DSS operatives.
Speaking on this incident, Damilare Adenola, the Director of Mobilisation at the Take It Back Movement, claimed that Michael Lenin’s home was raided by DSS officials and that he was subjected to mistreatment during the arrest.
Adenola stated, “Lenin was apprehended by the DSS during a raid at his home around 2 am. He was detained and subjected to violence in front of his family. We demand his immediate and unconditional release.”
Nevertheless, the DSS has refuted the claims of holding Michael Lenin in custody.“The DSS can confirm that Adaramoye Michael (also known as Michael Lenin) is not in its custody,” the DSS proclaimed on their platform.
