Escape from Kidnapping: A Surprising Twist
ThankGod Adiegbuo, a resident of Umueze village in Anambra, shared a shocking story of how he narrowly escaped from kidnappers after being deceived by a friend, Mr. Sunday Nwakanze.
In a video detailing his escape, Adiegbuo recounted that he reconnected with Nwakanze, who had been persistently inviting him for a visit after they exchanged contact information.
The two share a long history, having been primary school classmates and related through marriage, as Nwakanze is married to one of Adiegbuo’s relatives.
During the visit, he was confronted by armed men who threatened him and stole his possessions, including his ATM card.
“I went to see him because he mentioned a house he was building near Abagana Girls Secondary School. I didn’t anticipate danger,” he explained. However, upon arrival, he found himself at a shrine where he was ambushed by armed individuals.
“They ordered me to the ground and took everything, including my last money, and then they blindfolded me,” he shared, noting that his captors debated whether to kill him, fearing he could identify them.
Despite the dire situation, Adiegbuo managed to free himself from his bindings, using the opportunity to escape through a staircase into another property.
In response to the kidnapping, local police apprehended two suspects, including a native doctor linked to the incident. Ongoing efforts aim to capture Nwakanze and another accomplice who are still at large.
According to the police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, a thorough investigation is underway following the victim’s report on November 22, 2024. Security forces uncovered incriminating items at the suspected shrine and are working diligently to ensure community safety.
