New information has surfaced regarding the abduction of Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), who previously served as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General.
Reports indicate that Tsiga was taken alongside nine others from Tsiga village in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State early Thursday.
Additionally, the attackers killed one individual and raided multiple homes, stealing valuable items.
Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, the local representative, shared details about the incident, noting that over 100 attackers surged around Tsiga’s home, attempting to force entry, which led the General to confront them outside.
Dabai reported that upon hearing the commotion, Tsiga emerged and questioned the attackers. They stated they were solely interested in him.
After their exchange, Tsiga reportedly secured his home and chose to leave with them.
“Upon hearing the ruckus, General Tsiga opened his door and inquired about their intentions; they simply wanted him to come along,” Dabai relayed to Daily Trust.
“To protect those in his home and neighboring residents, he agreed and locked his door before accompanying them.”
Another informant revealed that the former general’s home was unprotected by security personnel, and he resides independently away from his family.
The source from Tsiga shared, “He previously had three soldiers stationed at his house, but he ordered them to return to the barracks. He lives alone as his family members are situated outside the state.”
At the time of this report, the kidnappers had not reached out to the families of the victims or made any demands.
In the meantime, security forces have initiated operations aimed at rescuing General Tsiga and others taken by the kidnappers.
