The Importance of Decorum for True Men of Honor

In a recent statement, Wabara emphasized that it would be beneath him, as someone who has previously held the office of Senate President, to engage in a verbal dispute with Wike.

Adolphus Wabara, the Head of the Board of Trustees (BoT) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has made it clear that he will not engage in a verbal battle with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This declaration comes after Wike made negative remarks about him.

Wabara has also criticized Wike for lacking respect for those in senior positions.

In a televised interview over the weekend, Wike made pointed comments about Wabara, expressing disdain: “Sadly, there is someone they refer to as a former Senate President. If he were my father, I would have disowned him. He doesn’t deserve the title he holds. No wonder President Obasanjo commented on corruption during his presidency, considering he’s leading the PDP BoT.

In his reply, Wabara stated it would be inappropriate for him, given his status, to engage with Wike in this manner.

“I expect someone of his standing to choose his words wisely. He needs to verify his information. However, I won’t stoop to his level,”
he remarked.

Wabara expressed disappointment over Wike’s comments, indicating that a person with Wike’s experience, both as a former governor and current minister, should behave more appropriately.

“It’s disgraceful for someone who claims to be honorable to speak without respect. Spouting nonsense like an uncontrolled water pipe is not a sign of maturity,” Wabara stated.

He further challenged Wike’s assertions by asking: “For a child to disown their parent, the parent must have done something terribly wrong. Can Wike clarify what wrongs I have committed against him?”

Reaffirming his integrity, Wabara stated: “When it comes to corruption, the people of Nigeria know who the real offenders are, and I can confidently assert that I am not one of them. I, Adolphus Wabara, am not corrupt! I refuse to engage in discussions with those who show no respect for elders.”
