Peter Ukaegbu, a Nigerian resident, is grieving the loss of his wife, Emmanuella Chizoba, and their daughter, Onyinyechi Prisca, who sadly lost their lives in the chaos at Christ the King Cathedral (CKC) in Aba, Abia State.
The unfortunate stampede is thought to have occurred due to overcrowding and claims that security personnel had closed the church gates, causing panic among attendees.
In a deeply moving Facebook post, Ukaegbu shared that he and his wife had been looking forward to celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary in Port Harcourt on November 30.
“We were meant to be in Port Harcourt celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary as planned until the 23rd of November. You woke up on Sunday with our precious daughter, prepared meals, took care of the kids, and attended Corpus Christi, only for me to hear that both you and our daughter are gone. This heartbreaking loss has shattered my spirit and left me in despair,” he expressed.
“I thought I was strong, but now I realize my vulnerability. The fear I am feeling is unimaginable.
“I am in utter disbelief, lost and uncertain about what to do next. It’s tragic that the place where we celebrated our union became the site of such heartbreaking loss. I hope this kind of suffering never happens again.
“RELIGION HAS HAPPENED TO ME.
“May your souls find peace in the embrace of the Creator.”
“Good night my dear Emmanuella Chizoba Peter Ukaegbu. Good night Onyinyechi Prisca Ukaegbu (Ada Daddy Ya).”
