According to Mr. Fred Oghenesivbe, an aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ned Nwoko from Delta North has departed from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to concerns over his ability to secure the party’s governorship nomination for 2027.
Notably, on January 30, 2025, Nwoko officially announced his resignation from the party to his ward in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
He attributed his departure to the persistent leadership turmoil within the PDP, which has affected his confidence in the party’s direction.
In response, Oghenesivbe, the Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communication Bureau, remarked during a TVC news interview that Nwoko’s exit is primarily linked to the upcoming 2027 elections and his quest for nomination.
He stated, “Senator Ned Nwoko’s departure is driven by his anxiety over obtaining the PDP ticket in 2027. We all anticipated this move because it revolves around securing a ticket for the upcoming elections.”
“Nwoko appears to be worried about his chances of receiving the PDP nomination in 2027, as he has not accurately represented our party on a national level.”
