Anna Camp’s new love, Michael Johnson, has spent his fair share of time in the spotlight. As the former drummer of SoCal punk band New Beat Fund, Johnson can’t imagine existing outside the music world. “For me, growing up listening to music was just one of the most influential things in my life, so I kinda just wanted to do that. Once I started playing music I’ve never really done anything else,” Johnson told The Orion in 2016.
Johnson, who once dated Camp’s co-star Brittany Snow, launched his music career in 1999 with the boy band Natural. After Natural split, Johnson went on to join the New Beat Fund, trading his pop history for the punk vibe. “When people meet us, they say, ‘You guys are weird, but it’s fun!'” Johnson said, via the New Beat Fund’s bio (via 7S MGMT). “We want people to be cool with being weird, and thinking about things differently… that’s the whole vibe of our band. Just being weird and free.”
While, these days, Johnson might be a free agent in the musical sense, personally, Johnson seems more than happy to be taken.
