Sam Lloyd, the prolific actor who played ‘Ted’ on the hit show Scrubs, passed away in late April 2020. And while many people knew about his incredible comedic timing and ability to make people laugh, it wasn’t well known how gifted a musician he was.

The New York Times reports that Lloyd sang in an a cappella group called The Blanks, which shouldn’t surprise fans of Scrubs who saw his group famously perform “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on the sitcom as The Worthless Peons. Lloyd also played bass guitar in The Butties, a Beatles tribute band.

According to Variety, the actor was “slated to direct a country rock musical, With Pam and Gil,” but it was ultimately put on pause after his diagnosis in January 2019.

“It doesn’t feel real. It never will. It just feels like he will walk through the door,” his wife, Vanessa Villalovos, told Variety. “The overwhelming outpouring of love and sharing your stories about working with or knowing Sam keeps his memory alive and our hearts strong. Sam loved his work. I want to continue his legacy, and hope to share some of the beautiful songs he was working on for his musical and our son, Weston.”
