The upcoming Marvel series on Disney+ are some of the most anticipated new series. Several are set to premiere this year while the others are set for 2021. According to a new report, one of the shows originally set for further down the road has allegedly been delayed.
What do we know about ‘Hawkeye’ so far?
Hawkeye is one of the planned Marvel series set for Disney+. The shows are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and are set to bring larger continuity between the films and the television projects. Aside from Hawkeye, the other series are WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (both of which are filming now), as well as Loki, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
When the series was first announced, it was said to revolve around Clint Barton / Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) passing the torch to his daughter, Kate Bishop / Hawkeye. The events in the film would take place after what occurred in Avengers: Endgame.
A report claims that the series is delayed
Murphy’s Multiverse reported the news that the production on Hawkeye has been delayed indefinitely. However, despite what some people may be led to believe, it doesn’t have anything to do with Renner’s recent legal issues.
The report claims that it is due to the storytelling in the MCU. It reads, “Changes to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe necessitated the production delay, which is not the first delay on Hawkeye. The cascading changes, which will allow for some plot points of the larger, ongoing narrative of the MCU to be introduced ahead of the series, have moved Hawkeye quite a way down the production list and, quite possibly, out of 2020 entirely.”
It is important to note that the Murphy Multiverse report states that the production delay may allow to net Hailee Steinfeld, who was offered the role. The actress is incredibly busy, which would make the series a huge commitment for her right now, but if it will be filmed later down the road, then she could possibly do it.
