The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State apprehended three suspects for their alleged involvement in crimes such as theft, burglary, and fraud.
A spokesperson for the command, Ayoola Michael Shola, announced the arrests made in Ilorin on Monday.
Ibrahim Wasiu, a 31-year-old resident of Eyenkorin, Kwara State, was arrested after a report by Mr. Mumini Kabir regarding burglaries at his residence where valuable items were stolen, including a motorcycle, two Android phones, a home theater system, and other household goods.
Soliu Jimoh, a 33-year-old male, was also apprehended by the command’s tracking unit for stealing electrical cables and fittings from buildings under construction in Gaa Ajanaki area in Ilorin metropolis, following a tip-off on June 30, 2024.
Additionally, Ganiyu Yusuf Olalekan, 38, was arrested on June 28, 2024, for defrauding Mr. Ibrahim Mustapha of N4.5m by posing as a senior staff of the Ministry of Finance and a politician, promising Hajj slots in exchange for payment.
All suspects confessed to the crimes and will face prosecution once investigations are concluded, according to Ayoola.
The NSCDC Kwara State Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed, warned criminals to leave the state, highlighting the corps’s dedication to creating a safe environment for law-abiding citizens and deterring criminal activities.
